On April 1, 2016, The Fathers and Men of Professional Basketball Players partnered with Shoes That Fit for a community service event at Gideons Elementary School near downtown Atlanta, where 100 pairs of shoes were donated to children in need. Some notable fathers in attendance included: Charles Paul, Sr. (father to Chris Paul of the LA Clippers), Dwight Howard, Sr. (father to Dwight Howard, Jr. of the Houston Rockets), Dwayne Wade, Sr. (father to Dwayne Wade, Jr. of the Miami Heat), and Lance Stephenson, Sr. (father to Lance Stephenson, Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies).

An anonymous donor headquartered in Fresno, CA donated over $80,000 to provide more than 2,400 pairs of new shoes to children in nearby Maricopa and Taft, CA. Every student in the entire Maricopa Unified School District and every student at Conley, Jefferson, Parkview and Roosevelt Elementary Schools and Taft Primary and Lincoln Junior High in Taft received brand new shoes thanks to this generous gift. Local retailer G&F Footwear and Fashion was a key player in this event, helping us to make the most of our donation and delivering the shoes directly to the schools.

At their annual meeting in mid-March, Shoes That Fit Corporate Partner The Newport Group (formally Verisight, Inc.), organized a basketball fundraiser between superstar Shaquille O’Neil and two children from Meadowbrook Middle School in Orlando, FL, a school previously helped by the Shoes That Fit program. The students participated in a fun free-throw contest against Shaq, who also made a financial contribution to Shoes That Fit.

For the 6th year, Claremont’s Village Marketing Group donated 150 messenger-style bags, filled by donors with shoes, socks, and other necessary school supplies, during their spring campaign for local children in Southern California.

Shoes That Fit welcomed Kerith Dilley to the Shoes That Fit team as the Director of Individual Giving and Special Projects. Kerith brings with her many years of experience in non-profit development. We are very excited to welcome her to our team!
