Songwriters have happy feet for Shoes That FitOn August 23, The Spot Café & Lounge in Culver City was the scene of Grassroots Acoustica #14: Back To School Edition, a benefit for Shoes That Fit.
Mark Islam, organizer of this monthly gathering hosted a singer/songwriter night at the coffeehouse and in lieu of a cover charge voluntary contributions were collected to benefit Shoes That Fit’s Emergency Warehouse. Mark and his troupe have raised over $7,000 for various Los Angeles, CA non-profit organizations and Shoes That Fit was thrilled to be the chosen charity during the month of August. Staffers attending the event had a wonderful time and described the coffeehouse as being filled with the warmth and caring of Mark and his amazing group of artists and supporters! This fundraiser is “a flimsy excuse to gather my ridiculously talented musical friends together…” says Mark.
Patrons donated over $700 while listening to a spectacular line-up of award winning singers and songwriters such as Marc Francoeur, Alan O’Day, and Jeff Silbar, Grammy-winning cowriter of 1988’s Song of the Year, Wind Beneath My Wings. We are truly amazed by the generosity of Grassroots Acoustica and give Mark and his musicians a standing ovation!
