Shoes That Fit is proud to say that this fall all housing insecure children in the state of Delaware had new shoes and socks made available for them. We are so proud of our Shoes That Fit Delaware group, who made this possible, along with Friends of Fusion Foundation.

It’s a milestone for us!

We worked with The McKinney-Vento program, a federally funded initiative designed to support students experiencing homelessness by removing barriers to education. The program includes: transportation, access to school supplies, and more. Shoes That Fit worked closely with every school in Delaware to identify nearly 2,000 McKinney-Vento students. Kids feet were pre measured to ensure a proper fit of the shoes that they would receive. Shoes and socks were gifted to provide comfort, dignity, and joy amongst the students.

Joanne Glauser, a volunteer leader of our Delaware Chapter; spearheaded the effort. Glauser's fundraising and rallying of the community, brought together individuals, businesses, and organizations to make this initiative a reality. Her dedication was pivotal in ensuring that children in need received necessary shoes to attend school with confidence and pride.

The program’s success highlights the transformative power of community collaboration and the profound impact of meeting children’s basic needs. By providing properly fitting athletic shoes and socks, Shoes That Fit’s Delaware Chapter and Friends of Fusion Foundation are helping students take confident steps toward brighter futures—one pair at a time.

“WE LOVE OUR SHOES! Thank you!” – Students from North Georgetown Elementary School

‘Thank you to the Friends of Fusion Foundation for the new shoes. It is always important to make sure those who are in need have access to necessities such as new shoes. Your foundation has an incredible goal of helping people in need and has a great way to do so. I hope others also receive what they may be in need of and that your foundation continues to help them.” – Jayson
