For kids facing poverty, it’s so important to have good clothes for school. Being “put together” boosts kids’ self-esteem. 914Cares understands this. Their Clothing+ program provides each recipient with a unique Bag of Love containing a week’s worth of clothing packed specifically for each individual child. All the clothing items are new or like-new donations. They also include a pair of shoes in each bag.
But 914Cares didn’t have a reliable source for athletic shoes … until they found Shoes That Fit.
Now, thanks to a generous $75,000 donation from the The Thomas and Agnes Carvel Foundation, a shoe bank collaboration between Shoes That Fit and 914Cares has launched! This will provide 2,500 children in New York state with new shoes for school.
914Cares works locally with community partners such as shelters and schools to identify the children most in need of new sneakers and arrange distribution.
