(Inglewood, CA – Oct. 29, 2024)
650 children at Moffett Elementary in Lennox, California got new shoes on a sunny October day. It was all thanks to small donations from thousands of travelers – people flying for business or pleasure who decided to round up or add a donation to their purchase. The effort was promoted by Journey for Good Foundation, the charitable arm of Avolta in North America, a company that runs airport shops and restaurants around the world. Donations came from passengers shopping at dining venues, travel convenience, specialty retail, and duty-free stores operated by Avolta brands HMSHost, Hudson, and Dufry in the U.S. and Canada.
Jordan Silverman, the Director of Journey For Good Foundation, shared his appreciation to all who contributed:
“Journey For Good Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to the thousands of travelers who generously donated during their journeys, enabling us to give back to the Los Angeles community. We are proud to partner with Shoes That Fit to provide new athletic shoes to every student in need at Moffett Elementary School to help ensure they have the confidence to succeed and step forward into a brighter future.”
Employees came to volunteer to give out the new shoes. It happened to be Western Day at Moffett Elementary, and the kids were sporting bandanas and cowboy hats. They were thrilled to try on new sneakers.
“What an amazing gift for our Moffett families. We are truly grateful for the generous donation that will help hundreds of families in our community. Feeling good about how you look is important when you come to school. A new pair of “kicks” will help our kids start their day on the right foot. This donation goes a long way towards making our students feel seen. The families of Moffett Elementary and the Lennox community thank you again for this very generous gift. – Salvador Martin, Principal
