We’re so thankful to the customers and employees of Nordstrom! Together, they raised over $1.4 million to provide new Nikes for children across the country.
For our 14th year of partnership, Nordstrom set a high goal: $1 million to help 50,000 kids get brand new Nikes. And then they exceeded their goal by over $400,000, raising over $1.4 million!
Customers and employees of Nordstrom all pitched in – customers often donating $10 as they checked out at Nordstrom and Rack stores.
Nordstrom employees volunteered at shoe delivery events in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York City, Portland, and Seattle.
And Nordstrom brothers Pete and Erik also volunteered, going back to their family’s roots (Nordstrom started as a shoe store) by helping kids measure their feet and find the perfect fit.
Now, new Nikes are on their way to children across 494 schools in 39 states.
A few Nordstrom team members shared about what the partnership with Shoes That Fit means to them, especially the hands-on volunteering:
“Engaging with the students, hearing their laughter, and sharing those moments filled my soul in a way I didn’t realize I missed. It’s incredible to see how a simple act of kindness and extending yourself, if even so slightly, can brighten someone’s day.” – Megan Ehora, Sr. Program Manager, DEI
“Thrilled to give back to a local school in Chicago! It was an incredible experience connecting with students.Their enthusiasm and curiosity were truly inspiring!” – Rosalba L, Store Manager
“The joy and confidence the kids expressed (I had more than one tell me they could run faster/jump higher because of their new shoes, followed by a brief demonstration 😊) drove home the important work this organization is doing.” – Laura Jarrell, SVP, HR
“This is my favorite day of the year! The kids are so excited, thankful, and sweet. Sometimes we will measure and give a kid new shoes that are three sizes bigger than the ones on their feet. You can see what happens when they have shoes that fit them – they run, they jump. I am so thankful for all the Nordstrom volunteers who make this day incredible.” – Tacey Powers, EVP/GMM Shoes & Kids Apparel
Thank you, customers and employees of Nordstrom! You’ve made a tremendous difference, empowering kids across the country to learn, play, and thrive in the comfort of new shoes.
