Shoes That Fit was thrilled to partner with Beautifully Loved this summer to help pediatric patients (and siblings) with new shoes.
Beautifully Loved’s mission is to remind pediatric and teen patients that they have “dignity during diagnosis.” The founder and Executive Director, Aysa Province, stated: “Our biggest goal is to remind them their diagnosis is not their identity, to remind them how strong and important they are.”
The nonprofit serves five children's hospitals in Central Texas. Beautifully Loved knows that the burden of medical bills takes its toll on a family and that includes less funds for things like shoes.
The 73 pairs of new shoes were given as part of Beautifully Loved’s 10th Annual Fashion Show – where the models are patients and their siblings.
Aysa first heard about Shoes That Fit on social media, took a look at the website and immediately thought of Beautifully Loved’s Clothing Support program for kids in the hospital. She reached out and didn’t expect to hear back, but was pleased to get a quick response.
Aysa shared a little girl’s reaction to her new shoes:
“One little girl who is three, a very sassy fashionista into sparkles and tutus, put on her shoes. I told her ‘I love your shoes!’ Her mom said, ‘She refuses to take them off.’”
