The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation joined Shoes That Fit and the LAPD in delivering shoes to 220 students at Ricardo Lizarraga Elementary.
The school is close to the officers’ hearts, since it was named for a fallen fellow police officer. We were honored to have the Lizarraga family present to see kids given shoes in Ricardo’s memory.
Dodgers outfielder AJ Pollock helped kids try on their new kicks to make sure they fit. The kids were thrilled to meet a Dodger star. And that evening, AJ hit three home runs for the boys in blue!

Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation CEO Nichol Whiteman and LAPD Chief of Police Michael Moore also attended and helped the students try on their new shoes.
The Dodgers Foundation is dedicated to creating opportunities for kids to engage in sports, stay active, and succeed in school. We think it’s a great fit with Shoes That Fit’s motto of learn, play, and thrive. When kids are wearing shoes that are too small or too worn out, they are held back from participating fully on the playground and in the classroom. A brand new pair of shoes that fit allows a kid to be comfortable and confident.
The Dodgers Foundation is helping 600 children in various parts of LA over the course of the school year as part of a $20,000 grant to Operation Shoes That Fit LA.
