Dan Dressel grew up in Tacoma, Washington, but moved to LA to be part of the entertainment and advertising world. After running a holiday toy drive for many years, Dan decided he also wanted to help in another way. He wanted to make sure kids got the shoes they needed to play sports and be active.
Dan mobilized his colleagues, friends, and neighbors to help through crowdfunding. Over 80 people came together to help raise funds. They were so successful that they were able to fund shoes for twice as many kids as Dan had originally hoped! Instead of helping 100 kids, they were able to help 200.
The shoes went to students at 95th Street Elementary in South LA. The kids gathered in the auditorium, sitting cross-legged on the floor. Dan and his friends Keith Baker and Kelvin Malena called the kids up row by row and handed them their new shoes. The kids tried on their new sneakers, busted out some dance moves, and had a great time! Their new shoes let them to run fast, jump high, and just be kids.
Thank you to Dan and friends for making this day possible!
